Several
different names for the same part. Whatever you choose
to call it, this is the part that makes your
GMC go.Much
discussion has been raised over the final drive gear ratio of
the GMC.
The original ratio was 3.07, several people claim that this
was an oversight of the engineers at GM. The tire size
and configuration of the motor homes' drive line didn't
take full advantage of the Olds 455 engines. By that I
mean the engines RPM's are too low to obtain maximum torque
under normal driving conditions.
The simplest solution is to
change the final drive gear ratio.
We have offered
several options which included 3.21, 3.46,
3.55 or 3.70. Of these the most popular and
best suited is the
3.55
which we now have in stock and
can readily install.
